In order to surpass expectations it’s not good enough to just be a bystander. I take the time to familiarise myself with the situation and take in the ambiance of the shoot, immersing myself and becoming part of it in an unobtrusive manner. I tend to shoot in a documentary, photojournalistic manner. This makes my primary aim being in the right place at the right time and telling the story you wish to be told. I’ll be shooting genuine and realistic images as they occur. My objective is to produce images that capture the essence and integrity of the occasion.

Each and every shoot is diverse and I hope to embody each event in a distinctive and imaginative way. Boundaries are broken when working in a journalistic style, continually searching for the perfect framing and composition. I'll work with you to produce the distinctive and original images you can cherish and use with confidence.

My professionalism coupled with a relaxed personality allow for moments of engagement and understanding gaining a perspective into your views. I'm really easy to get on with and make an effort to engage. I'll be right in the action and invisible at the same time. I strive to provide images which are both fun and modern, and that will convey a humanising and involved feeling of being there.

Send me an e-mail and I'll get back to you!
About me.

I am Josh, born 9th August 1992. For several years now I have had a keen interest in photography sparked by an impromptu trip to New Zealand over my first summer off from university. I knew there was shots I wanted to take and how they should look but was left somewhat stumped until I started to explore the possibilities of combing shutter speed, aperture and ISO.

My university life led me to achieving a 2.1 Hons. degree in Product Design BA from DeMontfort University in 2016. Onward from my undergraduate degree I received a PGCE from Derby University in 2017 alongside working in a school to become a teacher of Photography, Graphics, Product Design and Media Studies. My teaching career was short lived as I rediscovered how passionate and enthusiastic I was about producing beautiful photography of all areas. I became ever more excited and made the jump to professional and full time photographer in July 2018.

Many people ask me what my specialism in photography is, to which my answer is normally convoluted and laborious, however I wouldn't define myself as being a specialist in any particular area of photography but more a photographer of situations. Defining yourself in terms of "I can do this but I can't or won't do that", is nothing more than a mere disguise and mental block standing in the way of people and the experiences they could capture. Whilst 10,000 hours practice defines you as a master in something, I feel it is important to let the creativity flow and to continue pursuing the art wherever it presents itself.
